My name is Othmane Wagdi, and as the "Framer" of Garden-Generator Concept, I am dedicated to contribute to the shaping of a future where architecture and engineering do more than just function—they provide the foundation for a regenerative, resilient and self-sufficient way of life. My mission is to develop holistic settlements like KASBAH3000, serving as a bridge between the deep wisdom of our ancestors and the state-of-the-art technology of the third millennium.

Here are the pillars of my work as the framer of this project:

Fusing Heritage with High-Tech: As a proud Moroccan, I feel a responsibility to protect our architectural and cultural heritage from the extractive and consumption-oriented nature of modern economy. I am focused on modernizing traditional concepts, such as the Riad and Kasbah, by integrating them with advanced engineering to create solutions that embody both wisdom and durability while preserving heritage.

Multigenerational Engagement: My focus is not on short-term fixes. Garden-Generator designs neighborhoods and villages with the potential to evolve for centuries into the future. To ensure this, I utilize our General Durability Matrix, a unique interdisciplinary foundation that combines engineering, landscape management, and interdisciplinary sciences to manage the settlement's long-term evolution.

Holistic Engineering Solutions: Inspired by the innovative Earthship concept, I integrate six core principles into our projects: building with natural materials, passive solar heating and cooling, renewable energy, water harvesting, contained sewage treatment, and integrated food production.

Technological & Energy Sovereignty: To ensure true autarky in regions like Morocco, Spain, Portugal, and the south of France, I am working on the potantial of the integration of advanced storage solutions like hydrogen electrolysis, redox flow batteries, and pumped storage hydropower. These systems are designed to bridge seasonal energy gaps, ensuring resilience and reliability year-round.

Closed-Loop & Regenerative Systems: In our prototypes, waste is treated as a resource. From agroforestry that restores soil health to Schwimmteich (garden ponds) and passive ventilation systems that use the earth's stable temperature, every element is part of a regenerative loop designed to nourish both people and the land.

Many things were/are difficult for me to communicate in normal speech, this is way I wrote poems and articles about who I am and what I am up to with the Garden-Generator concept.

The project, KASBAH3000, is deeply inspired by the realized vision of His Majesty King Hassan II of the iconic Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca. This monumental achievement serves as the ultimate blueprint for fusing Moroccan heritage with state-of-the-art technology. Just as the mosque showcases the pinnacle of traditional craftsmanship while embracing advanced modern engineering, the prototypes like KASBAH3000 aim to modernize indigenous practices to ensure a sustainable way of development of our civilization. 

 

By combining ancestral wisdom with high-tech solutions like hydrogen storage and passive climate control, we are building a future that remains rooted in our identity and our natural environment while achieving resilience and self-sufficiency. 

Since migrating from Morocco to Germany in 2013 after a successfull 2 years studies in mechanical engineering at the University Hassan II in Casablanca, my experiences have been defined by a commitment to the quest for knowledge required for innovation to achieve a sustainable future. I pursued International Civil Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Mainz and later continued in sustainable construction at VIA University College in Denmark. My academic foundation, centered on materialistic sciences and by the end of my studies the DGNB system was the focus, which now serves as an important technical backbone for the General Durability Matrix. Here, I lead the development of holistic prototypes like KASBAH3000, where we bridge the gap between architectural heritage and state-of-the-art technology to create regenerative settlements for the third millennium.

My path to founding Garden-Generator was shaped by diverse experiences in the Casablanca and Rhine-Main regions. While studying engineering, I worked at over a dozen businesses, balancing financial needs with my relentless thirst for knowledge. This journey—from technical studies, to international energy projects such as the heat storage system in Mainz-Wiesbaden, to exploring entrepreneurship and independent research —convinced me that sustainability on a large scale can only be achieved by combining innovation and entrepreneurship to serve the well-being of human communities and the natural world. Today, I lead the Garden-Generator with the aim to bridge the gap between cultural heritage, environmental stewardship and cutting-edge technology.

My most relevant work experience was in the CHP plant (Combined heat and power plant), BHKW, of the power plants Mainz-Wiesbaden in Germany during the year 2018. Participating in the construction of one of the most modern power plants was a highly instructive experience. My International Civil Engineering studies in Germany were successfully completed at the end of February 2022. Immediately afterward, in March 2022, I started an incubation process for the startup by the program U-Founders from the University of Mohammed 6 Polytechnique in Benguerir, Morocco. The program is one of the best in the country and it provides early-stage entrepreneurs with management and mentoring, access to market resources, networking opportunities, and business skills training. This program was finished at the end of September 2022.
